Grace Vineyard Sonata Series 2021
Meaty and spicy on the nose, with graphite, pine, vanilla, chocolate, warm stones and fresh blackberries. Quite intense and concentrated, with a very solid fruit core in the middle. Full-bodied and fine grained, with abundant fine tannins and a very long, creamy finish. This needs some time to let the wood spices integrate, but the high quality of fruit is palpable. A blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot and 15% marselan. Partial whole-cluster fermentation. Try from 2026.

Grace Vineyard Tasya's Reserve Merlot 2022
Another outstanding merlot from Grace Vineyard, and one of the best merlots from China. I like the depth and the racy fruit on the nose, which exhibits the typically lush merlot feel, with opulent berries and plums and touches of graphite, sweet spice and cocoa powder. Juicy and medium- to full-bodied, with fresh, ripe berries, fine-grained tannins and a lengthy finish. Good aging potential. Drink from 2025.

Rich yet fresh nose of sweet baking spices, violets, ripe blackberries and iodine. This is juicy, ripe and fine-grained on the palate, with a full body and nervy acidity. Properly structured and long. What a lovely aglianico from Shanxi. Drink from 2025.
